Frequently Asked Questions

How do I move between verses?

Swipe left or right to go to the next or previous verse, or use the arrows at the bottom of the page. To jump anywhere, open the menu and tap Contents.

How do I read in English instead of Sanskrit?

Tap the menu on the left, then the script letter on the rail. It changes the whole app — headings, menus and numerals — not just the verse.

What are the gold rings in the contents?

They mark the verses people quote most often, such as 2.47 and 18.66. The ring is about the verse, not about you. Your own progress is shown by how the circle is filled.

Open the menu and tap Search. Search by word, by meaning, or by verse number — type 2.47 to go straight to that verse. Below the exact matches, Related shows verses that are close in meaning. Search runs on your device, so it is instant and needs no connection.

How do I save a verse?

Tap the bookmark icon at the top of a verse. Saved verses are listed in the order they appear in the book, under Bookmarks in the menu.

How do I share a verse?

Tap the share icon under any verse. You can send it as a link, or as an image — the image is drawn on your device, in whichever script you are reading.

How is my progress tracked?

Verses mark themselves as read once they have been on screen long enough to have been read rather than swiped past. There is nothing to tick off. You can also mark a verse by hand from its number in the contents, for reading done away from the app.

Can I reset my progress?

Yes — open Progress in the menu and scroll to the bottom. Resetting clears read verses, streaks and goals. It cannot be undone.

How do I make the text bigger?

Open Settings in the menu. There are four reading sizes, three appearances (Light, Dark and Sepia), and switches for which parts of a verse you want to see — translation, meaning and word-by-word.

What is immersive reading?

Turn it on in Settings to leave nothing on the page but the shloka. Double-tap anywhere on the page to bring the controls back.

Where is the word-by-word meaning?

It is off by default. Turn on Word by word in Settings, under Verse details.

How do I add a widget?

Long-press your Home Screen, tap +, search for Gita, and choose the daily verse or the progress widget. Open the app once first — the widgets read the text the app shares with them, and before the first launch there is nothing there to read.

Does it work offline?

Entirely. The whole text ships inside the app. There is no account, no sign-in and no network call of any kind.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, iPad and Mac.
